Truck catches fire on interstate

Woodfin  –  Fire  department  personnel  from  the  Woodfin  Fire  Department  responded  to  the  report  of  a  tanker  trailer  on  fire  on  I-26  southbound  (east)  between  exits  23  and  24  on  Friday  afternoon  (June  8).  Once  firefighters  were  on  the  scene  they  could  see  the  truck  was  on  fire,  but  the  driver  had  made  it  out.  It  was  determined  the  tanker  was  carrying  milk  and  not  any  flammable  liquids.  Mutual  aid  coming  from  Weaverville  was  then  cancelled  and  the  fire  crew  had  the  blaze  under  control  in  a  matter  of  minutes.  The  Buncombe  County  Fire  Marshal  Office  is  investigating  the  cause  of  the  fire.
